Welcome to Phalaborwa
From the moment your plane touches down at Phalaborwa Airport and you walk towards the thatched building which serves as the arrivals and departures hall, you will know you are in the bushveld. This tiny air terminal, which is also known as Hendrik Van Eck Airport, is sandwiched between the Kruger National Park and the town’s perimeter - and it shows. Better than the South

Phalaborwa is an industrious mining town and home to one of the largest copper mines in the world. Cast your eyes over Africa’s widest man-made hole, and beyond, to the gorgeous landscapes of Limpopo and the Kruger National Park for a few awe-inspiring moments from this elevated lookout.
Kruger National Park
This epic Big Five conservation area is world-renowned for its conservation successes and unique safari opportunities. Letaba Rest Camp is just over an hour’s drive from Phalaborwa in your Avis hire car and offers a range of accommodation options. The camp has a restaurant, views over the Letaba River and an interesting Elephant Museum which showcases the Big Tuskers of Kruger, past and present. Keep a lookout for these large mammals as you make your way through the park – this is their stomping ground!
