If you are visiting Rustenburg during your trip to North West Province, you will find quite a few opportunities to buckle up and explore in your Avis hire car while in town.
Magaliesberg Canopy Tour
The exhilarating experience of sliding through the lush forest surrounded by one of the world’s oldest mountain ranges is available just 31km from Rustenburg. Afterwards, reward yourself for your exertions with a meal at the onsite restaurant.
Kgaswane Mountain Reserve
If you can’t get to the iconic Pilanesberg or Magalagadi Game Reserves in North West Province, take the drive to the Kgaswane Mountain Reserve, which is 68km from Pilanesberg International Airport. Here you can partake of some time out from behind the wheel of your Avis rental in tranquil natural surroundings. You might just spot some of the resident zebra and small antelope, including the rare sable while you are there.
Paul Kruger Country House Museum
Take a peek at the past life of a president at the Paul Kruger Country House Museum at Kedar Heritage Lodge, just under halfway between Pilanesberg Airport and Rustenburg. This beautifully restored property was the home of Paul Kruger before his rise to fame as one of South Africa’s leaders, and showcases the life of this successful farmer in the 1840’s.
Historic Monuments
A further tribute to the former state president is found in Rustenburg itself, opposite the Town Hall. Other National Monuments in Rustenburg include Schoch House, which is the oldest house in town, the sawn off trunk of an ancient syringa tree on Church Street, and a statue of a Voortrekker girl opposite the Hervormde Church in Plein Street, which commemorates the introduction of Christianity to the area.
Waterfall Mall
This is the only mall for miles and provides a range of restaurants, boutiques, supermarkets and a theatre for local folk, and visitors like you, to enjoy.
Don’t be deceived by Rustenburg’s sleepy appearance; with your Avis hire car you are able to reach out and appreciate all that this town has to offer.
