The North West Province butts up against Botswana as well as four South African provinces – Limpopo, Gauteng, Free State and the Northern Cape. This small province has a rich agricultural and wildlife tradition with several nature reserves dotted among the corn fields and small towns found here.
Both business and leisure opportunities are abundant and you can easily access them all from one of our Avis branches in North West Province. We have outlets offering our wide range of products and services in the following hotspots –
Pilanesberg International Airport is one of our busiest and offers easy access to this province’s most sizzling attractions, namely Sun City Entertainment World and Pilanesberg National Park.
If you need to find accommodation for a night or two before or after visiting one of these highlights you will find somewhere to tide you over within kilometres of Pilanesberg Airport. Try Mary’s B&B for a budget stay or stayover in luxury at Kwa Maritane, both within 5 kilometres of the airport.
These lands are beautiful for driving, with ochre grasslands sidling up to the low hills of the Pilanesberg and rural villages popping up every now and then. Fill up any available time by exploring with your Avis hire car.
Pilanesberg National Park
This wildlife wonderland is secluded in the large flat basin of a long-erupted volcano, where the arid Kalahari meets the lush bushveld. As such it houses a diversity of species like nowhere else in South Africa and is one of the only natural habitats where you will find the similar looking impala and springbok antelope living together.
Apart from these doe-eyed beauties, the park is home to all of the members of the Big Five, making for exciting game viewing activities while visiting. From here you can embark on self-drive safaris in your Avis hire car or book a guided game drive with a seasoned pro to show you around.
Sun City Entertainment World
This massive complex, measuring over 20km around its perimeter, is where it all happens in the Pilanesberg area, with a wide range of activities to enjoy either one at a time or during a single visit. Here you can catch a live show, stay in opulent accommodations or family style bungalows, eat like a king, dance the night away, or shop up a storm in plush boutiques.
Try your luck
One of the main attractions of Sun City is the chance to make a fortune at one of the onsite casinos. Reminiscent of Las Vegas, Sun City offers numerous venues to take a pull at the slots or outwit Lady Luck at the tables.
Have a swing
You can play a round at one of two world class golf courses on site at Sun City - Gary Player Country Club and the Lost City Golf Course. The former is the home of the Million Dollar Golf challenge and has put almost all of the world’s best players to the test.
Catch a wave
The Valley of the Waves at Sun City’s Palace of the Lost City, is one of few wave pools in South Africa. Here you can sunbathe, surf, swim, play in the refreshing waters, or take a walk among lush rainforest vegetation, rock pools and lovely water birds, including the rare black duck.
Take a Snapshot
The Kwena Crocodile Garden is a favourite among kids. Resplendent with an appealing ethnic architecture, Kwena is home to a variety of reptiles, including a 12- year old, 800kg Nile crocodile named ‘Footloose’.
That is just how you will feel as you explore these enigmatic North West sights in your Avis hire car – footloose and fancy free.
