Avis Budget Group supercharges its long-established loyalty initiative

New free-to-join Avis Preferred membership offers enhanced priority services and unlocks instant benefits under tagline “More rewarding car hire”.

Johannesburg, SA – 20 March 2024: Avis Budget Group, a global provider of mobility solutions, is enhancing its popular free loyalty initiative, Avis Preferred. The new program offers instant rewards, including a 10% discount from the first rental, and benefits that truly matter to vehicle renters.

Avis Preferred offers members a premium level of service to ensure a seamless and efficient rental experience. Members can use QuickPass, to verify their identity ahead of time to bypass the counter, and in some locations, access their vehicle via a Self-Service Kiosk or go direct to their rental car where the keys are waiting.

Under the tagline “More rewarding car hire”, the new Avis Preferred loyalty programme for 2024 will retain its priority services and instantly unlock a host of benefits regardless of the member’s vehicle rental history, including:

  • 10% off all future car rentals – right from sign up – automatically applied at booking.
  • Priority service – members jump the queue with pre-prepared paperwork and their vehicle at the ready
  • Access to exclusive offers with selected travel partners which are accessible and ‘always on’ without even making a rental booking.
  • Rent 5 times and spend €1,000 that year to qualify for Avis Preferred Plus, with complimentary single car upgrades and free additional driver.
  • Rent 10 times and spend €2,000 that year to qualify for the President's Club tier and have your benefits boosted further with complimentary single upgrades and free double upgrades on weekends, a free additional driver and free Roadside Assistance Plus.

Membership also includes some great partner offers:

  • 12% off Lounge Pass airport lounge passes – bookable in advance and giving discount on access to 600 lounges across 350 airports.
  • Up to 30% off Airport Lounge membership with Priority Pass – a subscription giving access to 1300 lounges worldwide.

A key driver in the new direction for the loyalty package has been international qualitative and quantitative consumer research[i] conducted by our principle, Avis Budget Group (ABG) with Avis Preferred members as well as vehicle rental clients who were not part of the scheme.

Nkombisa said: “Feedback from research that was conducted by (ABG) suggests that people are put off by rewards being inaccessible if they don’t rent frequently enough. Customers want instant access to benefits and relevant rewards, which is what we are giving them with this supercharged Avis Preferred programme.”

Avis Preferred was first introduced in 1988 and today operates in 22 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
